The Waterford Township Zoning Board of Appeals is a seven-member appointed board that may consist of one Township Board member who serves their term on the ZBA concurrently with their Township Board term, and six (or seven if there is no Township Board member) residents of the Township who serve staggered three-year terms.  The ZBA’s responsibilities are:

  • Hearing requests for variances from the non-use requirements of the Zoning Ordinance, and granting such variances where practical difficulties exist.  
  • Conducting appeals of administrative actions made in carrying out or enforcing any Ordinance provisions.  
  • Hearing and deciding requests for interpretation of the Ordinance.
  • Hearing and deciding appeals from the decision of the Planning Commission regarding special approval uses.

Zoning Board of Appeals meetings are held in the Township Hall Auditorium, at 4:30 PM, on the following Tuesdays in 2012:  April 17, May 15, August 21 and November 6.

Application Procedures

All submittals must include the following:

  • Application Form - completed in its entirety, MUST be signed by all persons with ownership interest in the subject property, and all signatures MUST be notarized.  The application can be completed  using Acrobat Reader and then printed on letter size paper to be submitted to our office; or you may print the application  on letter sized paper and complete the application by hand and then submit it to our office.
  • Legal Description of the subject property.
  • Fifteen copies of a site plan prepared in accordance with the site plan requirements listed in the application packet.
  • Appropriate Fee as determined by the Fee Schedule .
