The program, initiated by The Library Network, now works with its destination partner, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, featuring over 435 historical and cultural organizations statewide. With all 11 Michigan library cooperatives participating as contact points its reach includes more than 367 public libraries across the state whose library patrons are empowered to visit these sites.
Last year the Michigan Activity Pass program returned over $50,000 in value to over 10,000 patrons who used their library card to secure admission to a featured site. Library patrons will use their valid library card to reserve and print a pass, either from home or the library. Then simply take the pass to the cultural attraction and present it to their staff, that's all there is to it!
The Michigan Activity Pass program runs from May 24, 2017 through May 23, 2018. To print a pass or view a listing of participating organizations, visit the Michigan Activity Pass website. Each activity pass expires 1 week from the date it is printed. Each library will have 5 passes available per week for each of the participating organizations.
Some cultural partners offer complimentary or reduced price admissions while others, discounts in their gift shop or other exclusive offers for MAP passholders only. If you haven't taken advantage of this program in the past, here is your chance to visit some of the great attractions Michigan has to offer. Some of the participating cultural partners include the Gilmore Car Museum, the Michigan Science Center, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, and many others.
