About the Department

Founded in 1953, 2013 marked our department's 60th Anniversary of service to the people of Waterford! We have come a long way since those early days! Our new building is located near Township Hall and the 51st District Court in the Waterford Civic Center Complex.
The department is currently staffed by 50 sworn officers and 19 civilian support staff. In addition to patrol duties, our officers staff several specialized units including a Special Response Team, Motor Unit, Honor Guard and K-9 Unit. Though our number of police officers is down due to budget cuts, our Police force continues to provide 100% service to the residents of Waterford.
