Welcome to Waterford Township...

Welcome to Waterford Township, Michigan, a great place to live, work and visit! Established in 1834, Waterford is centrally located in Oakland County with a population of 71,707.  It’s the fifth largest Township by population in Michigan. We are a “Lakeland Paradise” with 34 lakes and have much to offer residents, businesses and visitors alike.

Closed for Independence Day

The Township offices will be closed Friday July 3, 2015 in observance of Independence Day. Emergency services are available.

Waterford Township Fireworks Ordinance

Please remember: By Waterford Township Ordinance, consumer fireworks may only be used the day before, the day of, or the day after 10 major holidays (Including Independence Day) except between the hours of midnight to 8am on those three days.

Paper Recycling Moved to July 11, 2015

Waterford Township offers residents free recycling of paper products the first Saturday of every month. Due to the holiday this month, recycling collection will take place Saturday, July 11th from 9am to 1pm in the parking lot of Township Hall 5200 Civic Center Dr. Accepted items include: magazines, cardboard, shipping boxes, cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes, etc, free of food debris and dry.

Beaches Closed

July 1, 2015 - As part of the 2015 Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) Beach Monitoring Program, the following semi-public beach remains closed: Lakeland Estates Beach on Eagle Lake in Waterford due to high E. coli levels: 109 M.P.N./100 ml daily geometric mean and 235 M.P.N./100 ml 30-day geometric mean. These results are above the allowable limit for E. coli for daily and 30-day sampling. The allowable limit for 30-day sampling is 130 M.P.N./ 100 ml. The allowable limit for daily sampling is 300 M.P.N./100 ml. The following semi-public beach is considered open: Woodhull Lake Civic Assoc Beach in Waterford on Woodhull Lake due to acceptable E. coli levels: 165 M.P.N./100 ml daily geometric mean and 125 M.P.N./100 ml 30-day geometric mean. The allowable limit for daily sampling is 300 M.P.N./100 ml. The allowable limit for 30-day sampling is 130 M.P.N./ 100 ml. Therefore, we are collecting additional samples on Monday (7/6/15) at the Lakeland Estates Beach. The sign will be picked up today at the Woodhull Lake Civic Assoc Beach. MORE...
